Meeting – Boundaries are Beautiful

May 27, 2026

This week’s meeting focused on boundaries, self-trust, confidence, and reflection as we gathered around the theme “Boundaries Are Beautiful.” The evening reminded us that boundaries are not only about saying no—they are also about honoring our needs, protecting our energy, and creating space for growth.

Our Toastmaster of the Day, Sarah, invited us to reflect on the beauty and power of boundaries. Through their remarks, we explored how even a simple “no” can be an act of clarity and self-respect, and we were encouraged to recognize boundaries as a healthy part of communication and connection. The invitation was both simple and powerful: boundaries help us show up with more honesty, confidence, and intention.

The Word of the Day was:

aplomb (noun) — self-assurance or composure, especially in a challenging situation

Our first speaker, Lily, delivered a confident and practical speech titled “Mock Job Interview.” Through a role-play interview, she demonstrated how to communicate professional experience, transferable skills, and career goals with clarity and composure. A key takeaway from her speech was the importance of preparing thoughtful examples that show not only what we have done, but how we think, adapt, and create value.

Our second speaker, Chandana, presented a reflective and vulnerable speech titled “Story of Finding the Imposter.” Through a personal story about seeking visibility at work and then struggling to receive recognition, she examined the tension between achievement, self-doubt, and belonging. Her reflections challenged us to consider why receiving appreciation can sometimes feel harder than earning it, leaving many of us thinking about how we can allow ourselves to fully accept the recognition we deserve.

The Table Topics portion of the meeting, led by Derick, brought reflection to the room. Guided by questions aligned with the meeting theme, members reflected on boundaries and shared personal stories.

Thank you to our functionaries and evaluators, including Kirti, Hamsa, Apeksha, Ramya, Preetha, Nadya, and all who offered thoughtful feedback and support in helping our speakers and meeting grow.

Boundaries, confidence, and self-acceptance all require practice. Whether we are saying no, stepping into an interview, or learning to receive appreciation, we grow when we meet ourselves with honesty and aplomb.

Officer elections are soon underway. Please reach out to a current officer if you are interested in nominating yourself or another member for the upcoming term.

See you at our next meeting!
