Meeting – Thinking Outside the Box

September 23rd, 2026

This week’s meeting focused on creativity, resourcefulness, and embracing the unknown as we gathered around the theme “Thinking Outside the Box.”

Our Toastmaster of the Day, Chandana, opened the meeting with a picture that looked like a yellow box (or maybe a Post-it!) to encourage us to think outside the box. Through this playful prompt, we were invited to challenge conventional thinking, look beyond the obvious, and explore new ways of approaching everyday situations.

Our first speaker, Akila, delivered a reflective speech titled “Who am I to ask”. Through her experience, she shared the importance of being comfortable with uncertainty and recognizing that we don’t always need to know everything. Her message reminded us that growth comes not from having all the answers, but from being willing to learn, ask questions, and figure things out along the way.

Our second speaker, Krishnan, brought laughter to the room with a taste of stand-up comedy. His speech, “My Superpowers” offered a fun change of pace and reminded us how humor can help us see everyday experiences from a fresh perspective.

The Table Topics portion of the meeting, led by Sarah F., encouraged us to “think outside the bucket” as members shared stories of creatively solving problems. The session brought out our resourcefulness and challenged us to think on our feet, showing that sometimes, a little creativity can go a long way.

Ramya also shared a profile of Bertha Benz, the business-savvy wife of the couple behind Mercedes-Benz. Her story highlighted the role of initiative, business acumen, and thinking beyond traditional expectations in helping turn an idea into something extraordinary.

Thank you to our functionaries and evaluators for their thoughtful feedback and support in helping our speakers and meeting grow!

Ultimately, thinking outside the box isn’t just about finding unconventional solutions. It’s also about embracing uncertainty, staying curious, and being open to possibilities we might not have considered before.

See you at our next meeting!
