This week’s meeting focused on courage, practice, and self-trust as we gathered around the theme “Empowered to Grow”. The evening reminded us that growth unfolds in small, incremental moments and that every meeting offers an opportunity to build confidence, celebrate progress, and advance on our leadership journey.
Our Toastmaster of the Day, Chandana, invited us to reflect on the idea of giving ourselves permission to step out of our comfort zones and embrace new roles. Through her remarks, we explored how small, continuous steps build long-term confidence and were encouraged to actively pursue self-improvement and embrace honest feedback.
The Word of the Day was:
Flourish (verb) — to grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way, especially as the result of a particularly favorable environment.
Our first speaker, Hamsa, delivered a reflective and engaging Icebreaker speech titled “Many Versions of Myself”. She explored overcoming social anxiety and introversion after relocating to the US, sharing how picking up activities like pool, swimming, and snowboarding helped her build resilience. A key takeaway from her speech was that small, everyday decisions can lead to profound personal transformation, reminding us to trust the process and take risks.
Our second speaker, Audrey, presented an insightful and practical speech titled “Club Series based on Evaluate to Motivate”. Through a personal story about delivering challenging feedback to a colleague, She examined the balance between honesty, empathy, and timeliness. Her reflections challenged us to consider how genuine, constructive feedback can motivate and elevate those around us, leaving many of us thinking long after the speech ended.
The Table Topics portion of the meeting, led by Apeksha, brought vulnerability, connection, and deep reflection to the room. Guided by questions aligned with our overall theme, members reflected on overcoming career setbacks, relying on supportive partnerships, confronting fears through continuous learning, and recognizing beauty in life’s imperfections.
Thank you to our functionaries and evaluators for their thoughtful feedback and support in helping our speakers and meeting grow.
When we actively choose to step into discomfort and support one another with honest feedback, we give ourselves the room to truly flourish.
See you at our next meeting!
