This week’s meeting focused on the power of perspective as we gathered around the theme “The Power of Perspective.”
Our Toastmaster of the Day, Mahak, invited us to reflect on how the same situation can feel completely different depending on our mindset. Through the example of experiencing a rainy day with stress one week and calm the next, we explored how a shift in attitude can change our entire experience. The invitation was both simple and powerful: we may not control every circumstance, but we can choose the perspective we bring to it.
The Word of the Day was:
kaleidoscope (noun) — a constantly changing pattern or sequence of elements, shapes, or colors
Our prepared speaker, Apeksha, delivered a heartfelt icebreaker speech titled “Learning to Fly.” She shared her journey from growing up as a protected only child in India to becoming an independent woman building a new life in the United States. Through humor, honesty, and vulnerability, she reflected on the challenges of immigration, adulthood, and creating a home away from home. A key takeaway from her speech was that independence is not about leaving behind the people who supported us, but about carrying their love with us as we learn to fly on our own.
The Table Topics portion of the meeting, led by Kirti, brought laughter, storytelling, and connection to the room. Guided by a camping theme in honor of the upcoming Fourth of July weekend, members shared stories about wildlife encounters, camping adventures, packing styles, and creative problem-solving in the outdoors. The responses brought both humor and a sense of shared adventure to the evening.
Thank you to our functionaries and evaluators for their thoughtful support in helping our speakers and meeting grow.
Toward the end of the meeting, we held our club elections and selected officers for the upcoming one-year term. A heartfelt congratulations to all of our new officers, and best wishes as they step into this next chapter of leadership.
Perspective can transform how we experience life’s challenges, helping us find calm, courage, and even possibility in moments we cannot fully control.
See you at our next meeting!
