Meeting – Art of Timing

April 1, 2026

This week’s meeting focused on awareness, patience, and intentional action as we gathered around the theme “The Art of Timing.” The evening reminded us that success is not only about what we do, but when we choose to act, pause, or pivot.

Our Toastmaster of the Day, Dawn, invited us to reflect on the importance of timing in both small and significant moments. Through her remarks, we explored how being attuned to the right moment can help us navigate decisions with greater clarity and were encouraged to cultivate patience and trust in our instincts. The invitation was both simple and powerful: act when the moment is right, not just when it is convenient.

The Word of the Day was:

Opportune (adjective) — suitable or convenient for a particular occurrence; happening at just the right time.

Our first speaker, Derick, delivered a humorous and engaging speech titled “Beaver.” He explored the fascinating world of beavers, sharing expressive and animated descriptions of their traits and behaviors. A key takeaway from his speech was the power of storytelling and physical expression in bringing a topic to life, reminding us to embrace creativity and playfulness in our communication.

Our second speaker, Kirti, presented an insightful speech titled “A Digital Diplomat.” Through the lens of a complex data transfer project, she examined the importance of strategy, structure, and communication. She walked us through her experience migrating 15 dashboards to a new system, highlighting the value of a clear roadmap, stakeholder alignment, and thorough documentation. Her reflections challenged us to consider how thoughtful planning and timing can make even the most complex projects manageable.

Our third speaker, Linda, delivered a powerful and thought-provoking speech. Through a compelling story of a female colleague navigating executive-level gender inequality, she explored themes of self-worth, courage, and empowerment. Her reflections challenged us to consider when it is time to advocate, when it is time to walk away, and how timing can play a critical role in choosing environments where we can truly thrive.

The Table Topics portion of the meeting, led by Preetha, brought laughter, creativity, and spontaneity to the room. Guided by questions connected to time and how we use it, members shared personal reflections on how they spend, manage, and sometimes misjudge their time.

Thank you to our functionaries and evaluators, for their thoughtful feedback and support in helping our speakers and meeting grow.

See you at our next meeting!
