This week’s meeting focused on intention, prioritization, and momentum as we gathered around the theme “Making the Most of Your Hours.” The evening reminded us that time is one of our most valuable resources, and how we choose to use it shapes not only our productivity but also our sense of fulfillment and balance.
Our Toastmaster of the Day, Sarah, invited us to reflect on how we approach time in our increasingly busy lives. Through her remarks, we explored how taking action early and breaking tasks into smaller steps can help us build momentum and reduce overwhelm. We were encouraged to move from intention to action, starting with even the smallest step.
The Word of the Day was:
prioritize (verb) — to arrange or deal with tasks in order of importance
Presented by Dawn, our leader profile was on Shonda Rhimes, an accomplished television producer, screenwriter, and creator of series such as Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, and Bridgerton. Her journey from studying at Dartmouth and USC to building “Shondaland” highlighted the power of saying yes to opportunities, embracing personal growth, and sharing authentic stories. As a self-described introvert, her story reminded us that leadership can take many forms, and that using our voice with intention can open unexpected doors.
Our speaker, Lily, delivered a thought-provoking speech titled “Love Your Fear.” She explored the role fear plays in our lives, sharing personal stories and practical strategies to reframe it. A key takeaway from her speech was that fear is not an enemy, but a signal for growth, reminding us to lean into discomfort, reframe our mindset, and take action despite uncertainty.
The Table Topics portion of the meeting, led by Ramya, brought laughter, reflection, and connection to the room. Guided by questions aligned with the meeting theme, members explored how they manage time, what motivates them, how they spend unexpected free time, and even their tendencies to procrastinate. These honest and relatable responses highlighted both the challenges and opportunities we face in making the most of our hours.
Thank you to our functionaries and evaluator for their thoughtful feedback and support in helping our speakers.
When we prioritize what matters and take that first step, we create the momentum needed to move through our days with intention and purpose.
See you at our next meeting!
