Leader Profile – Sarah Josepha Hale

Sarah Josepha Hale was an American writer, activist, and editor of the most widely circulated magazine in the period before the Civil War, Godey’s Lady’s Book. She is known as the “Mother of Thanksgiving” for her decades-long campaign to establish Thanksgiving as a national holiday.
