Meeting – World Internet Day

October 29, 2025

This week’s meeting, held during Halloween week, celebrated communication, connection, and creativity with a festive spirit!

Our Toastmaster of the Day, Nitin, introduced the theme: World Internet Day. He reflected on how communication has evolved—from early gestures and messengers to telephones, and now, the limitless world of the internet. He reminded everyone that it’s the internet that connects us all, even allowing this very meeting to take place in hybrid form.

The word of the day was:

Rhapsodize (v.) – to speak or write about something with great enthusiasm and delight

The evening’s Leader Profile, presented by Chandana, highlighted the inspiring journey of Indra Nooyi, former CEO of PepsiCo. Chandana shared how reading Nooyi’s autobiography My Life in Full changed her perspective on leadership. She spoke about Nooyi’s courage to lead a global organization while balancing family life—a reminder that leadership often involves unseen sacrifices and everyday resilience. Chandni’s reflection reminded us that true success isn’t just measured by status or wealth but by the integrity, empathy, and perseverance that shape a person’s journey.

The prepared speech of the night came from Monica, who presented a talk she prepared for an upcoming healthcare design conference. Monica shared insights into how thoughtful design can make hospitals more efficient and patient-centered.

She described how small details—like where equipment is stored or how staff move between rooms—can affect everything from efficiency to patient safety. Her speech bridged technology and empathy, showing how design for humanity begins with understanding the people who use the products.

The Table Topics session led by Andrea, themed When the Internet Meets Halloween, invited playful reflection. Members shared everything from spooky Zoom moments to work etiquette mishaps and the “haunting” power of Instagram algorithms.

Special thanks for Joscel for evaluating Monica’s presentation and offering valuable insights coming from the healthcare industry perspective and tips on how we can all make our slides more effective.

See you at our next meeting!
