This week’s meeting, led by Toastmaster Josel, celebrated the theme “Left-Handed Genius.” Josel reminded us that while only 10% of the world is left-handed, they’ve long been associated with creativity – from Leonardo da Vinci to Oprah. He invited us all to tap into our own “left-handed side” – the unique angle that makes each of us special.
The speech of the evening was Abhijeet’s candidate speech and mock interview for his run as International Director, Region 1. This was Abhijeet’s second time giving his candidate speech at one of our meetings, in preparation for his upcoming interview. He underscored the urgent need for sustainable growth, noting membership has slowed from 5% to just 1% and revenues have dropped. His vision: equip members first, embrace technology, and expand cross-cultural mentoring opportunities. With global perspective and his AI background, Abhijeet pledged to strengthen Toastmasters for the future. We wish Abhijeet the best of luck!
Table Topics, led by Risa, was as lively as ever. She introduced her left-pawed cat, who excels at solving food puzzles, as proof that genius comes in many forms. Members reflected on what “genius” really means – Helen beautifully expressed that passion itself can accentuate genius in each of us.
We closed inspired – reminded that genius isn’t reserved for the few, but lives in all of us when we bring creativity, resilience, and passion to the forefront. We look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!
