June 4 2025
On June 4, 1919, the U.S. Congress passed the 19th Amendment, which recognized women’s right to vote.
In preparation for the upcoming club officer election, our Events Coordinator Kirti and Secretary Audrey explained their roles.
Leena gave her speech “Beneath the Iceberg: A Lesson in Leadership”. She shared her experience of taking on the District Contest Chair role unexpectedly, highlighting the challenges of assembling judges, adhering to strict rules, and the emotional difficulty of disqualifying a long-time Toastmaster. She emphasized that leadership is about doing the right thing, even when it’s hard, and helping others shine.
To commemorate our meeting theme, Ramya led a mini-debate session during our Table Topics time. The debate topics were:
- The rise of influencer culture is more harmful than empowering to young women.
- Makeup is a form of societal pressure rather than self-expression and empowerment.
Do you agree or disagree? See you at the next meeting!
