The theme of our May 8 meeting was “Mother Earth”.

The first prepared speech titled “Paralysis by Analysis” was delivered by Ramya where she explained how overthinking has the self fulfilling prophecy of pulling us towards the scenario we are trying to avoid by overthinking it.

The second prepared speech titled “Don’t forget the agenda” was delivered by Preetha where she explained the PPE (Planning Preparing Executing) of organizing an event. This was informative and gave us tips on do’s and don’ts while organizing an event.

The Table topics section had a fun twist where our table topics master Helen had quotes by various scientists relating to our theme “Mother Earth” and had speakers share their thoughts about those quotes. One question that stuck with me was the quote, “To leave the world better than you found it, sometimes you have to pick up other people’s trash” from Bill Nye, the Science guy, to which the speaker Pooja had a funny answer as to how she is always busy tidying up after her newborn but happy nonetheless.

The meeting was then concluded by some of our office bearers explaining their roles and responsibilities that come with their titles. This was to help other club members understand how the club works in the light of upcoming elections.
