In our January 17 meeting, Dennis Dawson delivered a workshop on Storytelling.

He walked us through what not to do (ramble), and the key elements of a story (a series of challenges each overcome, culminating with the story’s crux, and denouement; plus character development/transformation in this process.

He answered our members questions. For example, does storytelling come more naturally to some than others and how can we develop it? (The answer: practice in Toastmasters). And we did an exercise in which we filled a table of prompts to brainstorm story ideas (first, last, best, worst: kiss, car, pet, job, gift, injury) then we each wrote a 6 word story.
