We inadvertently chose the hottest time of the hottest day for a group outing!

Armed with parasols, we strolled the Ruth Bancroft Garden where our member Helen volunteers as a docent. All the drought-resistant plants of the garden were doing their thing — looking pretty and withstanding the sweltering afternoon.

However, our group was not quite as heat tolerant. With the sun bearing down on us, we headed downtown for ice cream at Lottie’s creamery where business was booming. Dessert came before dinner, of course. We walked a short block over for a delicious meal at Burma 2 — their tea salad and palata really hit the spot.
