The meeting began with an interesting leader profile by Liz Spizer, who spoke about Annie Jump Cannon, “the census taker of the sky,” who revolutionized the way astronomers classify stars.
Risa presented her speech, “Plain not Pain,” as part of her Humorous Pathway project, Presenting a Speech with a Purpose. Risa was able to integrate the topic of speech elements and style effectively by providing three tips and actively seeking participation from the audience. Her tips included presenting the main idea, using the active voice, and positioning the main ideas at the beginning of the document or paragraph.
Samantha presented a speech on the value of a mentor. She illustrated her theme with the example of her mentor Dave, who guided her throughout her professional life and shared stories of how his mentorship helped her.
Ramya led us through an engaging and lively round of table topics on the theme of dreamscapes. Our participants, including our guests, shared their views and beliefs on dreamscapes. We were encouraged to use the word of the day, “intuitive”, throughout the meeting.
