Leader Profile – Mae Jemison

Mae Jemison joined NASA in 1987 and was part NASA space mission in 1992. During her space mission, she studies the role of autogenic feedback training exercise on motion sickness and anxiety. She also conducted experiments to on the effect of gravity on bone cells.

In 1993, she founded the Jemison Foundation, which strongly advocates for getting minority students (especially women) interested in science. Her foundation also promotes and advances science literacy in schools and plays an important role in addressing the gap in the quality of health-care in the United States.
